The Study in India (SII) portal was jointly launched by Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union Minister for External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, with the aim of providing a comprehensive platform for international students seeking higher education opportunities in India.

This dedicated website showcases a wide range of academic programmes offered by higher education institutions (HEIs) across India. Students can explore undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes, as well as courses in the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) like Yoga, Ayurveda, and classical arts. The portal also provides valuable information about the academic facilities, research support, and other related resources available in these institutes.

The Study in India Portal

One of the key advantages of the Study in India portal is that it allows students to apply to multiple institutes or courses of their choice. This streamlined process eliminates the need to navigate multiple websites and simplifies the application and registration procedures. Moreover, the portal facilitates visa applications, making it a one-stop spot for international students.

The Study in India programme collaborates with educational institutions meeting specific criteria, including a National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking of 100 or lower, a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation score of 3.01 or higher, and recognition as Institutes of National Importance (INI). By partnering with such institutions, the programme aims to ensure that international students receive high-quality education aligned with global standards.

Under the Ministry of Education (MoE), the SII programme intends to attract a higher number of international students to India. By promoting the country as a preferred study destination, the initiative seeks to showcase India’s commitment to providing affordable and quality education.

During the launch event, the Education Minister emphasized that the SII portal aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) and is a reflection of India’s determination to become a favored education destination, transcending academic boundaries.

The Union Minister for External Affairs highlighted that the portal represents the government’s dedication to transform India into a global education hub that welcomes students from diverse backgrounds.

To commemorate the launch of the Study in India portal, ambassadors from over ten countries, as well as students from Russia, Thailand, Japan, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Korea, who are currently studying in India, were present at the event.

Overall, the Study in India portal stands as a milestone in India’s efforts to enhance its standing in the global education landscape. By offering a user-friendly platform, extensive academic information, and a seamless application process, it paves the way for international students to embark on a fulfilling academic journey in the diverse and culturally rich nation of India.
