Preparation Tips and Tricks To Crack The NIFT Exam
Improving Sketching Skills: Developing strong sketching skills is crucial for success in the fashion industry. If you struggle with expressing your ideas on paper, it is essential to enroll in a sketching training program and practice sketching regularly. Dedicate time each day to hone your sketching abilities.
Mastering Time Management: Time management is a vital skill to ensure that you address all the questions within the given time frame. Speeding up your problem-solving pace is crucial during exams. Practicing regularly will help you strike a balance between speed and accuracy. When attempting the paper, be mindful of time constraints to maintain precision.
Managing Exam Anxiety: Many students experience anxiety, which can negatively impact their exam performance. To avoid this, follow these tips for the NIFT entrance exam preparation in 2024:
- Keep Stress at Bay: While some level of stress is inevitable, excessive worrying can hinder your preparation. Stay positive, calm, and relaxed. Take breaks from studying and engage in activities that rejuvenate you.
- Seek Expert Advice: If you have any doubts about the syllabus, exam pattern, or exam day procedures, consult a mentor or expert for guidance and clarity.
- Create Concise Revision Notes: During revision, it is impractical to go through all subjects in depth. Creating concise notes that cover the essential aspects will greatly aid your revision process and enhance your performance in the exam.
- Strengthen Your Foundation: Merely having surface-level knowledge is not sufficient for an entrance exam. Aim for a comprehensive understanding of each subject in the syllabus. While memorizing formulas can be helpful, competitive exams emphasize logical reasoning and critical thinking skills.
Introduction
NIFT, the National Institute of Fashion Technology, conducts a national-level design entrance exam to select candidates for admission to its participating institutes in 2024. Currently, there are 18 participating institutes offering a total of 5,215 seats in programs such as B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M.
The NIFT entrance exam consists of two parts:
Part I – This includes the written exams GAT (General Ability Test) and CAT (Creative Ability Test). The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while the CAT paper is only required for B.Des and M.Des candidates.
Part II – Candidates are shortlisted for Part II based on their performance in the written exams. For B.Des candidates, Part II involves a Situation Test, whereas PG candidates are required to appear for a Personal Interview. However, for the B.F.Tech program, admission merit lists will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.
The FINAL score of NIFT 2024, except for the B.F.Tech program, will be calculated by considering the performance in the written exams and the Situation Test/Personal Interview.
