CMJ University is the first private university of Meghalaya. It was established in 2009 by an Act of Meghalaya State Legislature under the CMJ University, Act, 2009. It is located in Shillong, Meghalaya. It is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC).
CMJ University offers UG, PG, PhD and diploma courses in the following faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of distance education, Faculty of Commerce, and Faculty of Nursing etc.

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in aggregate to be eligible to apply for these programs.
For B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Sc. and BCA program, candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/or Biology as subjects in Class XII. For Management and Hospitality degree courses, candidates must have passed the Class X.

CMJ University, Shillong offers Post Graduation Program in 2 specializations, M.A., M.Sc., M.Tech, M.Com, MCA, Ll.M, MBA and various other degree courses at the postgraduate level.
Candidates must have graduation degree in the relevant subject obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 55% or equivalent CGPA to be eligible to apply for the postgraduate degree program.
Candidates are selected for admission on the basis of marks in last qualifying examination. For MBA, university will conduct Group Discussion and Personal Interview(GDPI). A merit list is prepared for all categories based on applicant’s performance.
